SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 26: The Department of Pediatrics at GB Pant Hospital in collaboration with National Health Mission and BPNI (Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India) started training of National level trainers and state Infant & Young Child Feeding (IYCF) councillors.
During the first week six national level trainers shall be trained. The six national level trainers who have been drawn from faculties of Pediatrics, Community Medicine GMC and Pediatricians from Health services are undergoing an intensive training.
During next six days these six trainers shall train 24 IYCF counsellors. The basic aim of the training is to improve the infant and child feeding practices throughout the state which shall go a long way in reducing the neonatal and infant mortality and also improve the state of health of mother and child in the state.
Course Director, Prof. Khushwaha is a noted master trainer and one of the pioneers in the field of infant and young child feeding.
