SRINAGAR:- Two women are reported to have died of cardiac arrest as tremors shook Kashmir, reports said.
One woman died of cardiac arrest in Baramulla and another in south Kashmir Islamabad, a senior police officer said. One was identified as Zoona Begum, 65 year old wife of Ghulam Ahmad Najar, a resident of Mir Sahab Bala in Baramulla and another was 80 years old Fatima, wife of Abdul Rashid Dand, a resident of Ahanger Mohalla in Bijbehara.
The officer said there are at least half a dozen individuals who have suffered minor injuries.
The officer said the damages include cracks in certain key buildings. . There was panic as there was lot of congestion, the officer said.
Authorities had snapped electricity and it also impacted the telecommunication. Now it has been restored. Officials said it will still take some time for the basic services to restore. Even the traffic on the flyover was permitted again to decongest the M A Road and Residency Road in the capital city.
Reports from Sopore informed that two paramilitary men were left injured in the earthquake.
