Browbeating dissent is against battle of ideas policy
Srinagar, Oct 21: Denouncing the police action against Mohammad Yasin Malik, CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has said the assault on JKLF leader at Batengoo is not only condemnable and inhuman but not acceptable to any civilized society living in a democratic setup.
In a statement issued here, the CPI (M) leader asked the administration not to adopt suppressive measures including unnecessary restrictions to contain dissent which is the soul of any democratic set up. There should be no room for such police actions against voices of dissent when the present dispensation claims that democracy is a battle of ideas, Tarigami remarked.
