New Delhi: Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Tuesday met Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi, Abdul Basit and apprised him about the current situation in Jammu Kashmir.
According to a Hurriyat spokesman, Pakistan High Commissioner told Mirwaiz Islamabad has always initiated a process of dialogue with New Delhi for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
Basit told the Hurriyat (M) Chairman that Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharifs four-point agenda for the resolution of Kashmir issue was a step in the direction for the resumption of dialogue process.
However, the Pakistan High Commissioner termed New Delhis politics of rigidness and delaying tactics for keeping Kashmir resolution pending as unfortunate.
He told the Mirwaiz that during the Pakistan PMs upcoming visit to the United States, Mian Nawaz Sharif would raise the Kashmir issue and impress upon the US President, Barack Hussein Obama and other important personalities in the US government to extend their full cooperation and play a role toward the resolution of the Kashmir issue.
Basit told the APHC Chairman that Islamabad was duty bound to play its role in the final settlement of Kashmir issue and believes the participation of Kashmiri leadership while engaging with New Delhi on Kashmir was a must for any positive outcome.
Stressing that Islamabad was putting in concerted efforts in resolving Kashmir issue both at the governmental and diplomatic level, the Pakistan High Commissioner informed the Mirwaiz that Islamabad wants a dignified solution to the Kashmir issue and finding a solution according to the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir was part of Pakistans national policy.
Terming Indias aggression and crackdown on Kashmirs resistance leadership as unfortunate, Basit said Pakistan government was extremely concerned over the large scale human rights violations in Kashmir and use of aggression, terror, and military might on peaceful protestors.
