Srinagar: An army officer was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a camp at Machil sector of north Kashmirs Kupwara district last evening.
A police official told GNS that Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Uma Shankar of 45 RR was found lying inside the army unit while performing his duty at Machil sector near Line of Control yesterday.
Soon after the colleagues found their officer lying on the floor, they rushed him to Drugmulla military hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, he said.
The body of Shankar (42), a resident of Fatehpur in UP has been sent to his native village, the official said.
Meanwhile, Police has registered a case and started further investigations in this regard.
