Jammu: Two teenaged girls today jumped into Chenab river after school timing in Akhnoor area of this winter capital of the state.
“At around 1515 hrs two girls, students of Nagbani School namely Kirti Sandu (9th Class), resident of Sant Nagar, Jammu and Sonali (8th class), resident of Lower Roop Nagar, Jammu jumped into the river near steel bridge Akhnoor,” police sources here said. They said on seeing the girls jumping, a group of boys, sitting along the river bank, jumped into the water and safely rescued the girls.
“The girls have been shifted to the hospital and they are stable and out of danger,” police said, adding that their parents have been informed while the statement of the girls are to be recorded.
