SRINAGAR: The Commissioner Secretary Agriculture Production Department, Syed Mohammad Ashraf Bukari reviewed supply and availability of different kinds of Organic and chemical fertilizers in Kashmir valley at a joint meeting of owners and the representatives of different fertilizer manufacturing companies at Lalmandi today.
Director Agriculture, Kashmir Altaf Aijaz Andrabi, Director Law Enforcement, S. Sushil Sahwney, Managing Director Agro Industries Development Corporation and other officers were also present.
Commissioner Secretary impressed upon the Companies and Dealers to stock adequate quantity of fertilizers to meet the requirements of Rabi season in Kashmir Valley. He said there should be uniform distribution of quality fertilizers among the dealers said the secretary and asked dealers to make sure that fertilizers are made available to the farmers at their door steps.
Bukhari directed the Enforcement wing of the department to enhance their monitoring and supervision in the field and speed up the sampling procedure, so that quality inputs will reach to the farmers well in time besides checking flow of Spurious and Misbranded Fertilizer/ Pesticide. He asked them to deal firmly with the dealers indulging in selling spurious products.
The owners of the Companies assured the Commissioner Secretary that the supply of fertilizer will be made to all districts of the Valley as per the demand of the area. They requested Commissioner for taking up the matter of increasing the number of Rack points, as there is only one rack point available in the valley.
Director Agriculture acknowledged the cooperation of fertilizer Companies for stocks and making available fertilizers and pesticides in all the Districts of valley.
