SRINAGAR: The element of suspicion and hostility between India and Pakistan should be removed and both the countries should sit across the dialogue table and resolve their differences, Tanvir Sadiq, NC Leader and political secretary to National Conference working president Omar Abdullah said while interacting with a visiting US delegation at his downtown residence Hassanabad today.
The US diplomats Political affairs David P. Arulanantham, Michael Rosenthal Political Unit Chief Office of Indian Affairs, and Political Advisor to US Embassy Dinesh Dubey called on Sadiq at his downtown Srinagar residence and discussed the socio-economic and political developments in the State during an hour-long interaction.
Tanvir while favouring a dialogue said, I dont think there is anybody in the right mind who would not want dialogue. At the end of the day, we tried all other alternatives to resolve our differences with Pakistan. We fought wars, we suspended dialogue but the closest we have come to resolving our differences is when India and Pakistan have been talking to each other, either during (Atal Bihari) Vajpayee sahebs time or during Dr Manmohan Singhs time.
And, therefore, the national conference hopes that this sort of element of suspicion and hostility, that has crept into our relation, can gradually be done with Sadiq said.
When the relations of two countries become unfriendly, the effects are directly on the people of the state when firing starts when shelling starts we people become the target Our people have to leave their homes and lands said the NC leader
Blaming the ruling alliance for the uncertainty in the state and rising militancy graph the political secretary said The PDP used to say that this is the battle of ideas? Those people, with whom his thinking does not match, are arrested. Mufti said that agenda for alliance between BJP and PDP (CMP) will facilitate dialogue between the Centre and the Hurriyat but he did not permit Hurriyat to talk to Pakistan in Delhi adding The NC has all along been a facilitator and advocated dialogue and never were Hurriyat leaders arrested to prevent them from meeting Pakistani leaders
