Gojri Conference
Srinagar: Minister for Transport Ch Abdul Ghani Kohli Friday stressed upon the Gujjar and Bakerwal Community to struggle hard for recognition of their Tribal Identity adding that Gujjar Writers, intellectual ,scholars have to play a key role in uniting the community.
Minister was speaking at the concluding ceremony of 2- day Gojri Conference organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages at Institute of Hotel Management here this evening.
The Conference was attended by More than 200 prominent writers, poets, artists ,intellectuals and observers from all over the State .
Speaking on the occasion Minister said that Gujjars are culturally vibrant and ethically united as they fought a full-fledged war for their cultural existence since 1947 adding that with the grant of Schedule Tribe Status to Community a big change was witnessed in their overall socio-economic and cultural development.
He said that J&K should showcase this culture at Nation level.
Dr. Aziz Hajini Secretary Academy said the conference was a major initiative of the Academy and it was a rare opportunity for Gujjar community writers to be on one platform and to think for future course of action in literature. He said Academy has devised a comprehensive plan to develop the Gojri in a time frame manner.
Dr. Javaid Rahi, Chief Editor JKAACL said that Gojri wing of the Academy has done a pioneering work in n preservation and promotion of the language and published hundreds of books on Tribal Art and Cultutre of Gujjars since 1978.
He said 200 writers participated in the event which was designed to develop Gojri by uniting researchers of all regions.
Dr Dr Shah Nawaz Editor cum Cultural Officer of Academy also spoke about development of Gojri Language and Literature during cocluding ceromany.
