The Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested the co-owner of a truck, used in the militant attack on a BSF convoy in Udhampur in August. The attack had left two soldiers dead.
Sabzar Ahmad Bhat who carried a bounty of Rs. two lakhs and was on the run since the attacks was arrested from south Kashmirs Kulgam district.
The truck, was used by the captured Pakistani militant Naved and his accomplice Mohammad Noman alias Momin-both members of the banned Lashkar e Toiba outfit.
While, Momin was killed in the attack, Naved was arrested.
In August, the National Investigating Agency (NIA), which is handling the case, had arrested another truck driver identified as Khursheed Ahmad, who had reportedly driven Naved to Jammu on two occasions, including the day before the attack on the BSF bus.
According to sources , Ahmad, a resident of Awantipora in south Kashmirs Pulwama district, was an over-ground worker of Lashkar. Another driver, Showkat Ahmad was also arrested by the NIA earlier.
A group of four LeT militants – Mohammad Naved Yakub, Zhargham alias Mohammed Bhai, Abu Okasa and Noman – had entered India from Baba Reshi in Baramulla district of north Kashmir. The group split into two, of which one carried out the attack in Udhampur on August 5.
