PULWAMA: The arrest of few youth sparked protest and a spontaneous shutdown in Kakapora town in South Kashmirs Pulwama district on Saturday.
According to the eyewitnesses, after the culmination of search operations in Naman hamlet, some youths allegedly attacked the armoured vehicles of 50 RR with stones. The government forces swung into action and took at least three youth into custody. A police officer said that a youth was arrested for indulging in stone-pelting, however, locals claimed that three youth were picked up by SOG and Army.
Eyewitnesses said that when government forces did not release the arrested youth, people in large numbers took to road and staged a protest. Shopkeepers downed their shutters and observed a shutdown demanding immediate release of the youth.
