Srinagar: A fierce encounter broke out between government forces and militants on Saturday evening in Handwara forest area of north Kashmirs Kupwara district.
A senior police official told GNS that armys 21 RR, armys 6 RR have launched massive searches in several forest areas connecting Hafruda area following the deadly attack that left four soldiers dead on October 05.
Today in late in the afternoon armys 21 RR have intercepted the group at Wader Balla forest area, he said.
After being intercepted, the joint team of armys 21 RR, 92 bn CRPF and SOG engaged the group in a gunfight, he said.
When last reports came, the intermittent exchange of fire was going on in the area.
Pertinently, On October 05, four army soldiers of 6 RR were killed in an encounter at Tilpatren forest area in Hafruda. (GNS)
Militants break forces cordon
Srinagar: Militants on Friday night gave slip to government forces during a brief encounter in Lolab area of north Kashmirs Kupwara district.
Official Sources said that acting on information regarding the presence of three militants, Armys 18 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operations Group of police cordoned off Ken Nad forest area of Affan village in Warnow of Lolab sector last night started combing operation to flush out the suspected militants.
As such the joint party intensified the combing operation. Militants present there opened fire on the search party which was retaliated triggering an encounter, sources said.
Sources said that during the brief encounter the militants managed to break the cordon and give slip to the joint party taking the advantage of darkness and dense bushes.
Meanwhile, the joint team of forces along with the additional reinforcement launched massive searches in the adjoining forest areas to nab the militants. However, when reports last came, no one has been arrested.
Pertinently, On October 05, a militant was killed in an encounter at Darpora forest area in Lolab. (GNS)
