SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 08: Minister for Horticulture and Hajj and Auqaf, Abdul Rehman Veeri Thursday said that establishing high density apple orchids is an important component for the growth of horticulture industry in the State.
The Minister said this while chairing a review meeting of identification of the sites for the project.
Mr. Veeri while directing the officers to work proactively for the projects success said that Government is resolute in its belief to make this project a success.
While assuring the reward for those working for the successful implementation of the project, the Minister said stern action would be taken against errant officers. He asked the Director, Horticulture, Kashmir to formulate a people friendly scheme so that people can reap maximum benefits by getting connected with the project.
Stressing on the need for wide publicity of the project, the Minister asked the officers to make everyone aware about it by wide publicity. He also suggested involvement of Panchayats and other public representatives in the project.
To speed up the identification process, the Minister directed all the CHOs to certify land identified by them and directed them to submit a report in this regard by the start of next week.
Commissioner Secretary, Agriculture Production Department, M A Bukhari, Director Horticulture, Kashmir, P K Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, SKAUST-K, Kashmir, Tej Pratap, Chief Horticulture Officers (CHOs), and District Horticulture Officers (DHOs) were present in the meeting.
