Asks police to identify main sources of drug menace
SRINAGAR: Minister for Health Medical Education, ARI and Trainings, Choudhary Lal Singh Tuesday said that strict measures are being taken to curb the drug menace across Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on a resolution on drug menace moved by legislator, Javaid Hassan Beigh in the House today, Lal Singh said unemployment was no cause for the drug menace. The magnitude of the problem is so grave that there is a dire need to find out the sources of the menace, he said. There is a lot of work to be done as far as this menace is concerned. You cant blame a poor drug addict for the problem. The problem lies somewhere else.
Some organizations are not doing their work professionally. There is lot of nexus going on between the drug peddlers and the government organizations, Lal Singh said.
Several legislators participated in the discussion on the resolution and urged the government to take strict action against the persons responsible for spreading the drug menace in the society.
