SRINAGAR: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI & Trainings, Ch. Lal Singh Saturday ordered constitution of a five member committee to look into the issue of mushrooming of un-registered private hospitals and nursing homes in Kashmir valley.

Acting on Kashmir Observer report that revealed that some 60 percent private hospitals and the nursing homes in Srinagar were functioning without any Govt registration, the Minister ordered the formation of the committee directing it to submit report within 3 weeks. Minister also assured a strict action against the violators.

I have ordered formation of a five member committee to look into the matter. Stakeholders who are found following and obeying the rules and regulations set by the government will be given go ahead and violators will be strictly dealt with, the minister said, according to an official spokesman.

The five member committee will be headed by the Project Director, J&K AIDS Control Society, Dr Saleem-Ur-Rehman. Other members of the committee include, Medical Superintendent, GB Panth Hospital, Dr Shafqat Khan, Deputy Director Health Services (HQ) Kashmir, Dr Karim, Medical Superintendent, B&J Hospital, Srinagar, Dr Abdul Rasheed Badoo, representatives from civil society, Enterpreneur Umer Tramboo and journalist, Shuja-Ul-Haq.
