Expect Miseries Not Comfort From It

Srinagar – Alleging that the government displays a step-motherly treatment towards Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Central Contractors Coordination Committee (JKCCCC) Saturday said that governments plan to flush out sewage water from city under the project Greater Kashmir was a flop project, that according to it would bring miseries to the citizens rather than comfort.
The Committee allege that it was a flop project which would result in flooding of Srinagar. It is estimated that project will cost Rs. 260 crore to the state exchequer.
The experts said that the project Greater Kashmir was having technical faults which could flood Srinagar city with of sewage water.
General Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Central Contractors Coordination Committee (JKCCCC), Farooq Ahmad Dar said that the project incompleteness is due to incapacity of the company. He said that it is the flop project and would bring miseries to the citizens rather than comfort.
Project Greater Kashmir and Jammu was initiated in the year 2008 for eradication of the waste water from the two cities. The state packed deal with the construction company National Construction Company to complete the project.
Meanwhile, government has claimed to have completed 45% of the project. In a written reply to a query in the State Legislative Assembly Deputy Chief Minister had informed that the project was approved under the Jawahar Lal Nehru Urban Mission scheme in 2007and in the same year State had entered into a contract with National Building Construction Company and work was started on the project in year 2008.
It was informed that the project estimated 132 crore and 92 lakh, 87 crore,73 lakh had been released while 68 core 50 lakh had been spent on the project.
Minister had informed that the project would be completed in September 2013 and it would connect 48000 and 220 drains of the different residential houses. According to written reply, project includes PST having the 60MLD capacity and its 56% work has been completed.
Deputy Chief Minister had also informed that the Greater Jammu project would be completed in March 2014. Government said that the 40% work on the project had been completed and that the 40 crore and 54 lakh rupees had been released and 31 crore and and 54 lakh had been spent.
In a written reply to the query, it was informed that it would connect 30 thousand and 400 houses. It was also informed that the 92% work on the Sewage Treatment Plant having 27MLD capacity has been completed. According to the Minister, narrow streets and congeal population is the reason for slow work.
