Captaincy immaterial for Parvez: JKCA
SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association Thursday refuted the reports that in-form Parvez Rasool has been sacked as captain.
Chairman JKCA, Mehboob Iqbal said that the decision to select Mithun Manhas as Captain was taken with a sole intention to give a free hand to Parvez. He is a talented player and we want him to play with a free mind,: Iqbal said. We dont want him to feel pressure of captaincy and that is why we brought in another local boy from Delhi to lead the side.
He said that there was no factionalism in Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association. Some vested interests have been using the name of Farooq Abdullah and they even announced their own team, he said. The faction led by M.L.Nehuru who is using Farooq Abdullahs name for his personal benefits tasted biggest defeat when the BCCI recognized our team and termed their selected team as invalid. The team that we have selected has been playing against Kerala at Cricket Stadium Sonawar and everything is fine.
He said that vested interests are misleading the people that the boy we appointed as Captain is from Delhi. Mithun Manhas is a local boy who has and has been playing IPL, Iqbal said. He is as talented as Parvez Rasool. Captaincy doesnt mean anything for the Parvez as he is a star cricketer and has made us feel proud be receiving Indian cap.
