Continuing a long-standing tradition, hundreds of people from Chadoora tehsil in Budgam marched to Chrar-e-Sharief to pray for rainfall and the end of the three-month long dry spell at the shrine Kashmir’s patron saint Sheykh Noorudin.
In the past, whenever Kashmir experienced a dry spell, people would assemble at the shrine to pray for rain. This tradition persisted, and once again, people from various parts of Budgam converged at the shrine of Sheikh-ul-Aalam seeking divine intervention to end the dry spell.
Alam sharif was also carried in procession.
It is noteworthy that whenever the valley has faced a dry spell in the past, this tradition has often led to rain, and participants maintained their faith in this practice once more.
