Jammu – The Department of Women & Child Development, Community Food & Nutrition Extension Unit celebrated Iodine Deficiency Disorder Day at Lower Roop Nagar Muthi, Jammu in collaboration with ICDS Jammu, Health Education Bureau, Directorate of Health Services Jammu and NIDDCP Cell (National Iodine Deficiency Disorder Control programme Cell), Drug and Food Control Organisation, J&K, Jammu.
The function was inaugurated by Divisional Nutrition Officer Health, Dr. Sham Gopal Gupta, and presided over by Programme Officer, Tanveer Iqbal.
Dr. Gupta asked the participants to spread the message of IDD Day in their respective areas while Dr. Ujala Verma, NIDDCP Cell Incharge,spoke on importance of Iodine in our daily diet.
Meanwhile a debate on Iodine was organized on the occasion in which 8 Anganwari Workers took part and the winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to Satya, Rachna and Prabha Sharma respectively while Pushp Prabha got consolation prize.
The departments also organised an exhibition on the occasion.
