Srinagar: The traffic situation has worsened across Srinagar city in the run up to the Eid ul Adha. A beeline of vehicles was stranded at many places across the city resulting in tiresome snarls.
MA Road and Bemina route remained worst affected due to traffic pressure, officials told Kashmir Life.
The traffic moved at snails pace at areas like Pantha Chowk, Batamaloo and RR Road. Several small roads within the city were also choked due to massive traffic inflow. Commuters complained to having to endure the jams for hours together. It took me two hours to reach from Bemina to Lal Chowk, said Umer Rashid, a Bemina resident. The situation is pathetic today.
Persistent rainfall has also led to water logging at many places further worsening the situation. Rains lashed parts of Kashmir valley since yesterday with weather agencies predicting more for the next 48 hours. Meanwhile, the Jammu-Srinagar highway was closed for the vehicular traffic wake of landslides near Ramban area.
