Srinagar – The Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. Ashok Praasad has stressed upon the jawans and officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police to improve their proficiency and gain public confidence. He said that JKP has to move forward further to attain more heights of success for which public cooperation and confidence is mandatory.
Mr. Prasad was addressing a darbar of jawans of Railway Police at Nowgam Railway Station here today. He has saidthat with the introduction of railway services in the Valley, Jammu and Kashmir Police has been entrusted with more responsibilities of public service and the cops have to devote themselves with more dedication to gain public confidence at gross root level.
Then DGP said that security of railway tracks and safety of commuters was a great challenge for the force and jawans and officers of the Organization proved with their mettle that they can take any responsibility at any time with fortitude. He has said that the responsibilities would be more added in the future when railway service would chunk from Baramulla to other parts of the country. The force would be prepared to take the challenge when called for, said the DGP.
During the durbar, Mr. Prasad patiently heard the jawans and issued on spot directions for the redressal of their genuine problems raised by them. He assured that various measures have been initiated within the department for the welfare of jawans and officers. He disclosed that Boards of Officers have been constituted to ease and to create more avenues for the junior and senior personnel in the Organisation. He further assured that enhancement in the monthly remuneration of SPOs has also been taken up with the government which is being persuaded vigorously.
On the occasion, the Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters), Mr. S. P. Vaid who was accompanying the DGP also addressed the darbar and threw light on the various welfare schemes introduced in the Organization for the welfare of jawans and officers.
Earlier welcoming the DGP and other senior officers, IGP Railways, Dr. K. K. Saini, apprised them about the day-to-day working of railway cops in Jammu and the Valley. He said that railways protection force is in early days in the Valley and the infrastructure and manpower needs to be strengthened to get desired results.
Later, the DGP also inaugurated the new office building at Railway Station for the Railway Police Station.
