SRINAGAR: Reacting to the killings of the toddler Burhan and his father, senior separatist leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for a statewide shut down on Sunday.
A Hurriyat (G) spokesperson quoting Geelani said that the killing of three-year-old child, his father in Sopore and and a Hizb militant in Kunzer area of Tangmarg was a tragedy as well and a matter of concern for the entire nation. He said no religion; even Islam allows the murder of an innocent child.
Geelani said that the nature of the killings that happen under the nose of army and police indicate that the statement of Defence Minister Manohar Parikar was being implemented on the ground.
Hurriyat chairman demanded a probe by an independent organization into these killings.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhamamd Yasin Malik will hold a day-long hunger strike on September 22 (Tuesday) against the growing barbaric and mysterious killings in Kashmir. The spokesman further said that the token hunger strike, which will be joined by other party leaders, will be held at Partap Park in Srinagar on September 22.
The party spokesman in a statement also said that, the growing incidents of mysterious killings are a conspiracy to damage freedom struggle of Kashmiris. Kashmiris will not remain silent spectators over these gruesome killings. International community should probe these killings so that the faces behind this bloodshed are exposed.
While condemning the killings at Kunzar and Sopore, which included a three-year-old Burhan Bashir, Malik said such “mysterious killings have opened a new chapter of brutality and barbarism.
He said that only an international probe into these killings could expose the faces of real killers, and appealed the international community to come to the rescue of “innocent Kashmiris and hold an impartial probe to expose the ugly faces behind these recent killings”.
