Srinagar- The highest level of security preparedness and foolproof arrangements are in place for the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Srinagar city in J&K today.
Security in Srinagar, where the premier is scheduled to lead the International Yoga Day celebration on June 21, has been heightened.
According to reports, security has been beefed up in the city besides deployment of SPG around the SKICC, where the annual yoga event will unfold.
The police has declared Srinagar a “temporary red zone” for the operation of drones and quadcopters.
In the order dated June 18, Srinagar police stated, “Srinagar city has been declared a ‘Temporary Red Zone’ for the operation of drones and quadcopters as per the provisions of Rule 24(2) of Drone Rules, 2021, with immediate effect.”
The statement said that all unauthorized drone operations in the Red Zone are liable to be penalized as per relevant provisions of Drone Rules, 2021.
As responsible citizens, your cooperation is solicited in this regard, it added.
In the International Yoga Day celebration, fitness enthusiasts and sportspersons are expected to attend the event in huge numbers.
“Entry points to Srinagar have been heavily guarded by the security forces and police besides areas falling closer to the venue witness a swell in Police, CRPF and other forces,” reports said.
It was said that the security was beefed up in Srinagar to prevent any untoward incident from taking place.
Meanwhile, there has been a sparse movement of people in the city due to the Eid-ul-Azha festival.
It is pertinent to mention that Narendra Modi will be visiting Kashmir for the first time after swearing in as PM for the third term on the 9th of this month.
