SRINAGAR: The Executive Committee of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCC&I) met here today under the chairmanship of its President Sheikh Ashiq and took a strong note of the unjustified arrest of some trade leaders who had called for a general strike to mark the anniversary of the devastating floods that broke the economic spine of Kashmir.
The trader fraternity was forced to adopt the protest path because the government both at the State and the Centrehave maintained a criminal silence by not announcing and releasing a comprehensive package for the food victims, Sheikh Ashiq said.
Its surprising that with regard to Kashmiris a different attitude is being adopted while at other such similar occasions such as Utrakhand, the government responds with lavish assistance.
The meeting vowed to pursue more vigorously the problems faced by the hapless Kashmiris. Well hold protest rallies at all district headquarters and interact with National and International press to expose the biased approaches adopted by the government of India, the speakers resolved.
