Students accuses SP School Principal of sexual abuse

He is naughty, could go to any extent to malign my image: Principal

SRINAGAR: A 9th class student of the S P Higher Secondary School, Srinagar, Tuesday accused the school principal of sexually abusing him and alleged that he offered him some cash in order not to raise a hue and cry.

According to the local news agency, the boy (name withheld) told reporters that the principal Riyaz Ahmad Siddique on August 27 tried to abuse him sexually when he was in the bathroom. He told me to undo the pant and cuddled me. He said. When I raised a hue and cry, he offered me Rs 5000 to keep silent.

I found my son upset for many days and upon enquiring he narrated whole the incident. When I came to know about the incident, we registered our protests at the Press Enclave to bring the erring principal to book, said Sajad Ahmad, the victims father.

We also took up the matter with concerned MLA who assured us of action under rules against the Principal, he said.

The father of the victim alleged that his complaint against the Principal was not entertained by a police officer at Kothibagh Police Station. One officer advised me to make a compromise with the Principal while another threatened me of dire consequences in case I didnt keep my mouth shut. The police officer even told me that he will register an FIR against us for raising the issue before the media, Sajad Ahmed said and appealed authorities to take cognizance of the incident. He alleged that police has been trying to shield the Principal.

When contacted SHO Kothibagh said that he didnt receive any complaint from the family. Let them file a complaint, we will take cognizance of the matter, he said.

Principal SP Higher Secondary School, Reyaz Sidique, told CNS that the student was naughty and he could go to any extent to tarnish the image of any person. His allegations are baseless aimed at to malign my image, he said.
