TRAL: In an unusual incident, a stray dog that had bitten several people in Dadsara area of Tral town South Kashmirs Pulwama district, was paid in the same coin when the residents mustered courage and attacked the canine killing it instantly.
The dog had bitten nine people including three children. While eight of them were rushed to the sub-district hospital Tral, a six-year-old girl, Maria, was rushed to SMHS Hospital as she had severely been bitten by the rabid dog.
According to the eyewitnesses, a stray dog appeared in Dadsara area and began to run after everyone who came in its way. The dog bit at least 9 persons including two elderly persons, three children and four young boys. People mustered courage, chased and killed the dog with sticks, said an eyewitness.
Stray dogs have let loose a reign of terror in the area. The elderly and the children are the most vulnerable to attacks by the canines. Even youth fear to move out of their houses after the sunset, a local resident said.
Accusing the municipal council of negligence, the residents asked the municipal council to take immediate steps to control the dog menace in the area.
