ANANTNAG: CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has condemned and demanded probe in the use of pellet guns by forces while dispersing protesters in Khudwani area of Qaimoh Tehsil in Kulgam district.
In a press statement, Tarigami censured the action of security forces in which fourteen persons were injured with six of them getting pellet wounds, as per news reports.
It is unfortunate that the law enforcing agencies have resorted to shooting pellets when other means could have been availed to maintain law and order, the MLA Kulgam said while demanding a probe into the incident.
He called upon security forces to observe maximum restrain while dealing with the law and order situation. Despite repeated calls by many human rights groups and the civil society, it is ironical that security forces are still using pellet guns which is an uncalled for action and should be immediately do away with, he added.
Expressing solidarity with families whose members sustained critical pellet injuries and demanded that the injured be provided best treatment available for their speedy recovery.
