KULGAM: Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar, Tuesday inaugurated the new building of Government Degree College Damhal Hanjipora, that has come up at an estimated cost of Rs 9.44 crore.
Minister of State for PHE, Irrigation, Flood Control, Animal Husbandry and Forest, Abdul Majid padder, Member Parliament, Nazir Ahmad Laway, Director School Education, Dr Shah Faesal, Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, SSP Kulgam, ADC Kulgam, SDM DH Pora, CEO, Kulgam besides other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
Akhtar said coalition government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is committed to streamline the education sector and provide quality education to the students so that they are able to find avenues beyond the government sector.
Later, the Minister also visited Higher Secondary School, D H Pora where he announced introduction of Commerce stream besides a Smart classroom under ICT scheme.
The Minister also asked the Director School Education to appoint an instructor for the already existing computer lab in the school and to arrange for training of teachers at NIELIT.
