Srinagar: Normal life was severely affected after 60 minutes of rain created water logging in parts of city, including commercial hub Lal Chowk.
According to the reports heavy rains amid thunders started here this evening. The rains, which continued for nearly 60 minutes, created water logging in Lal Chowk, Hari Singh High Street, Residency Road, Magarmal Bagh, Sarai Bala, Exhibition Crossing, Maisuma and dozen other areas.
Due to water logging, the people in the city faced extreme difficulties. The water logging caused traffic jam in Lal Chowk and its adjoining areas as rain water accumulated on roads.
The shopkeepers in Sarai Bala and Jahangir Chowk closed their shops as the accumulated rain water entered into their shops. Though the rain stopped after an hour but it exposed failed drainage system in the city. It also exposed the tall claims of government of having effective drainage system placed in the city. (GNS)
