Civil Society Forum Kashmir Organizes Drill in City

Srinagar – In a unique initiative, the Civil Society Forum today organized a drill of ambulances in the Srinagar city to spread awareness about giving way to ambulances on the road. Cavalcades of ambulances were flagged off from Traffic control room to different routes in the city on Wednesday morning with a special message for the general public to inculcate a sense of giving way to the ambulances on

the road.

According to various surveys the transportation time to hospitals is most crucial in critical care throughout the world. Thus as a responsible society we need to always keep in mind that an ambulances on the road should always be given priority, said a spokesperson of the forum.

He said the Civil Society Forum has decided to initiate such social awareness programs across the valley. The program was flagged off by the Honble Minister of State for Home Nasir Alsam Wani. We need to inculcate this habit of giving way to ambulances. We should also make sure that we respect the important driving rules like lane driving etc, said Nasir Alsam Wani on the occasion. Among other dignitaries present during the event were DIG Traffic Shafkat Watali, former city mayor Salman Sagar. Prominent members from the civil society included senior journalist Bashir Ahmad Bashir, Afrooz Mir, television journalist Shuja-ul-haq. Department of health, Traffic Police, SMHS, and Civil Society Forum in a well coordinated manner ensured the drill went off purposefully without hampering the normal functioning of the hospitals.
