Srinagar- All Kashmir Transporters’ Confederation has called-off its ‘Steering Chodo Andolan’ after observing the initially proposed two-day strike for a day on Tuesday.
Chairman All Kashmir Transporters’ Confederation, Mohammad Shafi Mir said that the strike has been called off as we have been communicated by our fellow bodies in different states that the Ministry of Home Affairs has assured of prior consultation with transporters’ association before the final adoption of newly-introduced laws.
“The further course of action will be decided as decided by the associations’ countrywide,” Mir said.
The strike call was given by the All Kashmir Transporters’ Confederation.Public transport mostly remained off the roads even as another Association ‘Kashmir Transport Welfare Association’, based in central Kashmir, decided not to collude with the strike call.
The transporters have been demanding the rolling back of penal provisions introduced by the Centre regarding hit-and-run cases.
