Srinagar: Kashmir Economic Alliance held a protest against Government of Indias failure to provide relief to flood affected families and traders in Srinagar on Saturday.
The protesters shouted slogans against the State and Central Governments which they said had failed to accommodate the flood victims even after the lapse of eight months. The protestors complained that the State and Central Governments have turned deaf ear to flood victims genuine demands and did not actively pursue the relief packages. The Government has not shown the kind of seriousness in Kashmir floods as it showed in Uttrakhand floods, they complained.
Kashmir Economic Alliance leader Farooq Ahmed Dar said that that Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi had made promises with the people of Kashmir that he will give full financial support to flood victims in Kashmir. The support till date came by way of Rs 30,000 only and that too in piece meals. We wonder that how Prime Minister of India can speak a white lie with the people of Kashmir, Dar said.
The representatives of Kashmir Hotel and Restaurants Association, Kashmir Traders Federation, Western Bus Stand, Mini Bus Federation, House Boat Owners Association, New Fruit Growers Association, Taxi and Tourist Operators Association, Private Schools Education Centre, JK Central Coordination Committee, Food Processing Association, Electronic Goods Association and Shikara Association were part of the protest.
