SRINAGAR: The Government today vested powers under Section 46 of the J&K Shops & Establishment Act, 1966 to the Deputy Labour Commissioners (DLCs) and Assistant Labour Commissioners (ALCs) of their respective jurisdictions in state.
These officers have been authorized to compose offences arising out of violations under Section 6, 9, 13, 16, 18, 21, 23, 26, 47, 48, 52 and 52-A. This measure has been taken by the department keeping in view the scheme of ease of doing business in the State, which will benefit around 3.00 lacs Shops & Establishments in the state.
The J&K Shops & Establishment Act, 1966 provides for regulation of conditions of work and employment in shops, commercial establishments, residential hotels, restaurants, eating houses, theaters, other places of amusements or entertainments and other establishments. The Act is being implemented by the Labour Department in J&K State.
