Srinagar: With cloudbursts hitting length and breadth of Kashmir causing considerable damage to life and property, the Educational Institutions in Valley by organizing camps in mountainous regions seem to be fiddling with the lives of students.
Reports said that Delhi Public School (Budgam) is currently organizing an expedition camp involving scores of students in these geographically volatile and cloudburst prone areas. A group of parents said that Mallinson, Convent, Tyndale Biscoe are also embarking on organizing camps for their students in hilly areas where chances of cloud bursts remain high these days.
As per environmental experts, cloudbursts always occur near hilly areas and due to localized phenomena it has been very difficult to predict when these are going to strike.
Anxious and worried parents said that by organizing these camps for students at a time when cloudbursts struck frequently in hilly areas, schools should cancel their proposed camps in these trying conditions.
The parents appealed Minister for Education, Nayeem Akhter to look into the matter and urge upon the School authorities not to organize camps in hilly areas till September.
