Funds to boost rural infrastructure, create employment avenues: Abdul Haq
SRINAGAR, JULY 15: For clearing the pending liabilities and boost the rural economy particularly the livelihood of rural households, the Minister for Rural Development Panchayati Raj, Mr. Abdul Haq today ordered the immediate release of Rs 262 crore under MGNREGA to the all the districts of State so that the labour demand is met and a special boost is enthused to the rural infrastructure with creation of durable assets and generation of employment avenues in the rural areas.
The Minister in a meeting of officers or Rural Development also finalized the convergence module of the department, wherein, the stress will be laid on creation of such assets in each block which are specific to the socio-economic needs of the area and will act as revenue source to the Panchayat Institutions. The Minster also approved the convergence of Rs 200 crores under MGNREGA with line departments. The convergence plan stands deliberated upon by the State Level Executive Committee on Convergence under MGNREGA.
The funds will result in filling gap of the requirements of other departments which not only will usher an era of infrastructure and asset development but also will put the State on the rails of development.
