Srinagar: Police Wednesday foiled the UNmarch of Democratic Political Movement (DPM), a constituent of Hurriyat G and detained at least 15 of its activists including the president and General Secretary. They were demanding release of all political prisoners before upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
Protestors led by chairman of DPM Firdous Shah and its General Secretary Advocate Muhammad Shafi Reshi assembled at Abi Guzar here and raised pro-justice slogans. They were also holding pla cards reading release all political prisoners before Eid, Kashmir is a human issue.
Speaking to media persons, Shah urged international human right groups to pressurize India to show respect to the human rights and punish those involved in the human right violations.
He said that it is the tradition of even the tyrannical governments all over the world to release the prisoners on this occasion, but in Jammu & Kashmir this tradition has been stopped a long time ago and the arrest spree continues even in this holy month of Ramadan.
