SRINAGAR, JULY 15: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Ch. Lal Singh, today paid visit to several health institutions in Srinagar city and took stock of the medicare facilities there. The visited institutions included G.B. Pant Hospital, Lala Ded Hospital, SMHS Hospital.
Commissioner/Secretary Health & Medical Education, Dr. Mandeep Bhandari, Principal GMC, Srinagar, Dr. Rafiq Pampori, Mission Director NRHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Sameer Mattoo, Medical Superintendent, GB Pant and Lala Ded Hospital, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Rather accompanied the Minister.
During the visit to G.B. Pant Hospital, the Minister reviewed the restoration works on the ground floor which was damaged due to devastation floods in September, 2014. He directed the executing agency to speed up the pace and complete the work at the earliest. He called for simultaneous completion of electricity fittings, sanitary fittings and other allied works so that the space is put to use at the earliest.
He directed the Medical Superintendent to undertake an extensive sanitation drive in and around the hospital and removing the unwanted debris and damaged furniture from the premises. He directed for immediate disposal of damaged furniture articles and other hospital equipments lying in the backyard of the hospital, causing nuisance to the nearby residents and attendants. He also directed for making optimum use of available space in the hospital for the patient care.
At Lala Ded hospital, the Minister inspected several units including, Neonatal, ICU, Blood Bank, labs, Drug Stores and took stock of the facilities available there. He also received the status of restoration of damaged infrastructure due to floods and called for expediting the same. He also directed for immediate steps to restore the choked drain in the premises of hospital and expeditious construction of damaged treatment plant. He also directed for proper maintenance of Stores and Drug inventory.
During his visit to Lala Ded attendant Sarai, the Minister called for expeditious completion of remaining construction works and directed the Medical Superintendent to ensure all basic facilities to the attendants in the restored accommodation.
At SMHS Hospital, the Minister visited several units and wards and enquired about the facilities available for the patients. He also interacted with the doctors and para-medical staff and called for improving the existing facilities, especially the sanitation in and around the hospital. He also directed for speeding up restorations of flood affected units in the hospital.
