Srinagar- Independent Multimedia Journalist from Kashmir, Ahmer Khan has been awarded the Martin Adler Prize in London by the Rory Peck trust. With focus on South Asia, the Emmy nominated Journalist has been awarded for his work in Social and political conflicts, Human rights, religion, Humanitarian crisis and migration in the region.
Ahmer’s work has received praise from the jury.
“We really enjoyed the breath of Ahmer Khan’s interest. He has shown a Wide range of ability in different kinds of stories coming through with humanity and compassion. He has done stories about individuals who didn’t have a voice” said Sarry fitton Director TV and Film Projects, Secret Compass.
“Ahmer’s entry was outstanding, the range of stories, the quality of journalism and composition virtually is outstanding” said Jon Williams, a Journalist part of the Jury.
Ahmer took to twitter to voice his excitement. “Super stoked to have been awarded ‘Martin Adler Prize’ for 2023 at BAFTA by the Rory Peck Trust last night in London. I would like to dedicate this win to the brave journalists working in Gaza who, in the line of duty, sacrificed their lives for journalism.” Ahmer tweeted.
Speaking to Kashmir Observer, Ahmer said that my work is about climate change, coronavirus pandemic, human trafficking and love Jihad.
“The work which I sent to The Guardian has won me an award. It is a good recognition and I dedicate the award to all those journalists who have been killed in Gaza over the last one month” he said.
Ahmer Khan is an award-winning and two-time Emmy-nominated independent multimedia journalist from Kashmir with a focus on South Asia. He covers the region’s political and social conflict, humanitarian crises, human rights, religion, and migration. He has reported from India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, for various International media outlets.
