SRINAGAR- Downtown Heroes FC defeated Sports Council Football Academy 3-0 on Thursday at
Synthetic Turf TRC in the lone Round 20 game of the 2023 Srinagar Premier League.
The undefeated Downtown Heroes sit atop the Premier Division and were heavy favourites against J&K Sports Council’s academy team full of young prospects.
The Heroes got going on the half hour mark after Afreen opened the score in the 29th minute. Afreen made it 2-0 for Downtown few minutes later, plucking the SCFA defence in the 32nd minute.
The SCFA boys showed some fight in the second half, but Shahid put the game to bed for the Downtown Heroes, making it 3-0 in the 75th minute. Afreen was awarded man of the match for his two-goal performance.
The win solidifies Downtown Heroes’ place at the top of the 2023 Srinagar Premier League standings.
Today’s Premier Division action will see J&K Bank FC take on FC1. FC1, another undefeated side in the league, might just lose the tag against a football powerhouse. The game kicks off at 3:00 PM at TRC.
