Srinagar: A 40-year-old man was injured critically after he was shot at by unknown gunmen at Batpora area of Shopian in south Kashmir.
Official sources said that some unknown gunmen opened fire from a point blank range upon a civilian, Mohammad Yaqoob Malla son of Ghulam Mohammad of Pehlipora near JandK Bank branch Batpora in the district on Tuesday. The father of the injured person is said to be the village head (Deputy sarpanch) of Pehlipora village.
In the incident, Yaqoob, a businessman, received serious bullet injuries and was immediately shifted to nearby hospital where from he was referred to SKIMS Soura for specialized treatment.
Soon after the attack, army, police and CRPF launched searches to nab the assailants.
