Pitches Mission Green-n-Clean for rural areas
Ganderbal, July 10: (GNS) The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq today chaired a meeting of officers to review the works done and proposed under MGNREGA in convergence with other schemes at Mini-Secretariat Ganderbal.
The District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Showkat Aijaz, apprised the minister about the achievements and progress of various works under different schemes of Rural Development Department in the district through a power point presentation.
The Minister held separate and detailed discussions with each concerned department about their proposed works in convergence with MGNREGA for the current fiscal year. The Minister exhorted upon the officers of Horticulture, Fisheries, Sericulture, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Education and other departments to work in convergence with the Rural Development for providing employment as well as creating valuable assets in the district.
All the concerned officers were directed to formulate plans regarding convergence of different schemes with MGNREGA and submit them within 15 days. BDOs were directed to identify the genuine beneficiaries under IAY and ensure that the money is utilized for the construction of their houses only.
In the meeting the minister gave the innovative concept of Mission Green and Clean under which eco-friendly and cleanliness programmes will be taken up in rural areas to make them clean and attractive. The minister said that the mission will be a joint responsibility of a number of departments particularly RDD, Health, Education and Social Welfare departments. The minister said that the mission will be initiated on priority in the coming days and the first step under the mission will be to make the state polythene free and stressed upon the officers to be proactive and visionary, and work with zeal and dedication in order to contribute towards the society.
DDC Ganderbal, Showkat Aijaz, ACR Ganderbal, ACD Ganderbal, CPO Ganderbal, SDM Kangan, District officers and all BDOs of the district were present in the meeting.
