Srinagar: Two minor sisters were burnt alive and five members of a family sustained severe burn injuries after their house gutted in a fire incident in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
A police official told GNS that the incident occurred at village Mohra Bachi in Surankote when a residential house belonged to Mohammad Shabir caught fire and gutted completely due to leakage of gas. Subsequently, the cylinder exploded with a big bang, thus created panic in the area.
In the incident, seven members of the family received serious burn injuries, he said.
All the injured were shifted to nearby hospital where two siblings Zahien Koser and Nargis Konser, daughters of Mohammad Shabir succumbed to grave burn injuries.
The other injured have been identified as Mohammad Shafi, his wife Sona Bi (52), their children, an infant, SPO Mohd Shabir (28 ) and is wife Shazia Bi (26).
Meanwhile police has registered a case and started further investigations in this regard. (GNS)
