74 doctors managing 70 admissions, 1200 OPD cases daily
Srinagar: Medical Superintendent of the tertiary GB Pant Children Hospital Srinagar, Dr Mushtaq Wednesday said that as per the records available in the hospital there is no shortage of staff and at any given point of time 300-350 children are admitted in the hospital against sanctioned bed strength of 135 beds.
The mortality figures in the hospital have been showing a continuous down trend for past few months that is evident from the hospital records, he said.
Dr Mushtaq Ahmed said that there are ten ventilators and eight non-invasive ventilators in the hospital. He said that ten ventilators procured through HLL are already in the pipeline and expected to be delivered to GB Pant Hospital soon. The Government has been kind enough to provide us life saving equipments like ventilators and CPAPs (non-invasive ventilators), he said.
It is baseless that hospital is lacking manpower. Come and check yourself, check the official records and you will find there are 74 doctors, 116 Nursing Staff, 2 Assistant Matrons, 9 Supervisors and all this staff has been catering a daily OPD load of 800 to 1200 with 60 to 70 admissions round the clock, Dr Mushtaq said.
