College bosses face corruption charge
Srinagar: Hundreds of male and female students pursuing different Para-medical courses Wednesday staged a massive protest against what they called corrupt practices followed by college authorities.
There are hundreds of students that pursue FMPHW, MMPHW, OT, Lab Assistant, X-Ray technician, pharmacy courses in National Institute of Health Education & ITI located at Tengapora, Bypass in Batamaloo Srinagar.
The agitating students alleged that College authorities demanded extra fee from them. When we secured admission, we were asked to pay fee in lump sum for two year course. It is beyond doubt that college authorities resorted to corrupt practices as for the same course, some students were charged Rs 11,000, some Rs 15,000 others Rs 9,000, one of the protesting students told reporters.
The students said that college authorities cheated them as after completing two year courses, they were provided six month course certificate. The six months course certificate provided to students by College authorities simply means that students were charged 18 months extra fee, the protesting students said demanding two years course certificate from the College.
They said that the course certificate issued by the College is not being recognized by any institution.
Amid anti-college authorities slogans, the students appealed anti-graft bodies to take suo-moto cognizance of the case and investigate the matter thoroughly.
Despite repeated attempts, the head of the College Abdullah Chattwal could not be contacted.
