SRINAGAR: The “Badamwari Athletes” club on Tuesday organised a felicitation program to honor “Outstanding Athletes of the Kashmir Valley” at Badamwari here.
The event started with the recitation of Qalam E Pak by the youngest member of the club Mohammad Ammar, followed by Naat recitation by the valley’s renowned Naatkhan Akeel Fida. The welcome note was addressed by Bilal Beigh and Javaid Hussain. The event was attended by valley’s top-notch athletes, including members from Pathfinders, Alpine Adventures, Crampon Adventures, AJKMF, JK Adventure Sports Club, Kashmir Runners Club, KMBA, Foreshore Athletes, who have made their mark in Fitness and Adventure Activities.
Prominent sports personalities Tani Khan, Danish Dhaar, Jalal Jeelani, Sunny Sajad Hyder Wani, Boyie Bulla, Mudhasir Bashir Shah, Muzamil Hussain Mir, Cyclist Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, Shafat Ul Bashir, Harshpal Singh, Arshid Bashir, Anwar Hussain Nagoo, Shariq Masoodi, Numan Bashir Lone, Mohammad Maqbool Zarger, Mohammad Afzal Zaroo were felicitated at the function. Shariq Masood did the honors as a Chief Guest.
“We are indebted and highly thankful to our dignitaries who attended today’s felicitation event and also to our team members who made earnest efforts to make it a grand success. We are here to recognize the local talent who can bring phenomenal changes in the society-The main motive of today’s event and at the sametime recognize our glaring mistake of not including other towering sports personalities of the Valley -Which had happened due to shortage of time and weather Vagaries,” the club said in a statement.
“We assure you that we will focus on uplifting the spirits of sports community in Kashmir without any prejudice or playing foul. With this pressing concern in mind, going forward, we will be more extensive in our approach to value the contribution of every sports person in our annual grand function of “Amadi Bahar” festival at Badamwari,” it added.
