Srinagar: A pregnant woman was crushed to death by a speedy vehicle at Lethpora area of Awantipora in south Kashmirs Pulwama district.
A police official told GNS that a pedestrian, Shameeda Akhtar (35), wife of Manzoor Ahmad Kumar of Lethpora was hit by a tipper (07TA-5803) at Lethpora area today morning.
In the incident, Shameeda suffered critical injuries in the mishap and was immediately shifted to nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead, the official said, adding that police immediately sung into the action and arrested the driver of Zahid Ganie.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case under FIR no. 65/2015 under section 304-A and 279 RPC and started further investigations in this regard.
Similarly, a JK SRTC bus (JKO1Y-0380) skidded off the road near Wussan area of Kangan in Ganderbal district resulting in injuries to number of passengers. The injured were removed to hospital by locals for treatment.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist and a pillion rider identified as Zaffar Hussain and Mukhtar Ahmad died when they met an accident in Muradpor in border district of Rajouri. The accident occurred after they collided with a Tata mobile bearing registration JK11 3916.
In another similar incident, two Border Security Force (BSF) troopers identified as Sunil Kumar of Punjab and Ravi Kumar of Udhampur were injured today when the vehicle (PB08 -5598) in which they were travelling in over turned at Kala More in the Ramban district, the official said. The injured troopers were removed to the nearby district hospital. Their condition is said to be stable.
