Srinagar: A team of the anti-encroachment wing of Kashmir Forest Division, headed by Divisional Forest Officer M.A. Geelani removed encroachments at compartment number 35 and 36N in South Kashmirs Kulgam district on Saturday.
The team demolished a boundary wall, underground water tank and two sheds constructed on the forest land.
Around 10 kanals of forest land have been retrieved from encroachers. The Divisional Forest Officer told CNS that the encroachment attempts were closely monitored and action was taken against the encroachers on the priority basis.
Another Forest official said that the team destroyed the maize crop that encroachers had grown on 10 kanals of forest land illegally at Branail area. The drive against illegal encroachments will continue in the district, he said.
