Srinagar: Day after militants and government forces exchanged gunfire in south Kashmirs Tral area of Pulwama district, the forces on Thursday carried out massive searches in the area.
Militants and armys 42 Rashtriya Rifles last night exchanged gunfire at Soimuh village of Tral. However, the militants were able to flee from the area.
A police official said the searches were conducted by armys 42 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group (SOG) at Buchoo and Kamala forests and Ratshsuna, Soimuh and Haridmir. Although, no fresh exchange of fire was reported.
Meanwhile, a youth was from Dadasara was detained by army at Soimuh village and was later handed over to police, sources said. The detained youth has been identified as Amir Majeed. (GNS)
