Rate list issued for vehicles plying on Mughal Road

Srinagar: The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Shopian on the directions of Transport ministry Thursday issued a rate list for the vehicles plying on Mughal road in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the list, the contract carriage vehicles which include sumo and taveera will have to charge rupees 306 from Shopian to Rajouri, rupees 301 from Shopian to Poonch, rupees 234 from Shopian to Surankote, rupees 199 from Shopian to Bafliaz and rupees 97 from Shopian to Peer-Ki-Gali.

Similarly, the stage carriage vehicles which include mini buses and big busses will have to charge rupees 145 from Shopian to Rajouri, rupees 142 from Shopian to Poonch, rupees 111from Shopian to Surankote, rupees 94 from Shopian to Bafliaz and rupees 46 from Shopian to Peergali.

Pertinently, the Transport ministry deputed special teams at various places on the route to keep a check on the erring drivers.

The news buses of SRTC will start soon on the route and other neglected areas of the state. The services will help the socially and economically deprived classes with less travelling fares, Transport Minister Abdul Gani Kholi had said.

Proper rate-lists have been made mandatory for each of the vehicles and anyone found involved in violation of the orders will be strictly dealt with. It has also been made necessary to charge distinctively for each passenger spot Kholi had said.

The minister had said that the ARTOs Jammu and Shopian have seized dozens of vehicles for violating the traffic norms. Reiterating his stance, the minister had said that whosoever involved in violation of any of the set norms will be put to task. GNS
