ANANTNAG– Baramulla lifted the Under-17 Provincial Cricket Tournament on Friday after defeating Kulgam by 4 wickets in the final played at Anantnag.
The Under-17 tourney was part of the Provincial Level Cricket Tournament for U-14, U-17 and U-19 Boys, organised by Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Kashmir and hosted by District Youth Services & Sports Officer Anantnag. All 10 districts of Kashmir Valley are participating in this tournament. The boarding and lodging arrangements have been made by DYSS Anantnag.
In the final match, Baramulla won the toss and elected to field first. Kulgam set a target of 133 runs in the allotted overs, with Shahzad Ayan 45 (38) and Tahir 31 (20) top scoring for the team. Chasing the target, Faizan Ibrahim played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 54* (36) while Ayan Tariq made 32 (28), as Baramulla lifted the title in a thrilling last-ball encounter.
At the closing ceremony, trophies were distributed among the two finalists. Faizan Ibhrahim from Baramulla was declared man of the match and man of the series for his incredible performances throughout the tournament.
